ODA Appoints New President

The Open Design Alliance (ODA) announced today that Arnold van der Weide has been appointed President of its organization. Selecting Mr. van der Weide as President of the Open Design Alliance is the next step in an on-going expansion phase, permitting the ODA to serve its growing membership better and invest more resources in software development.

Mr. van der Weide, who recently resigned as President of the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium, brings great leadership experience and execution to the ODA. Since November of 2006, Mr. van der Weide has been the Interim Executive Director, focusing with the ODA Officers and its Board of Directors on the improvement of financial processes and strengthening software development and documentation.

“I look forward to continuing my work with the Open Design Alliance,” said Mr. van der Weide. “The immediate goal is to build upon changes implemented since the beginning of 2007 that further enhance the value given to the ODA’s more than 3,000 members. These changes include improved communication with industry-recognized founding members, enhancements to feature requirements and development processes, and continued improvements to the stability, performance, and quality of our software libraries.”

With renewed goals and increasing membership, the ODA continues to deliver high-quality CAD technology to its members, enabling users to choose open solutions for DWG and DGN formats regardless of the data file creation source.
